An expedition needs a rowing boat, and not a carbon fibre one!

Now that I was set on rowing the Murray backwards, the question was that of, which rowing boat resembles a single scull and doesn't sink when hitting a snag and can carry my essentials for a period of 3 months. After much research and "hard sells" that carbon is best, I decided on a boat that I felt was actually capable of withstanding the unpredictable river and many days of beach landings (and pontoon landings at my rowing club)

that did not require 5 replacement fins! In short, I opted for a boat made of polyethylene foam, sandwiched between two layers of solid polyethylene, a coastal rowing boat, made by Edon, Perth. They even adjusted the boat to include a "boot" and made adjustments to carry my pack. But it's not light, the boat weights a whooping 37kg!
